Future Farming Families was built from real experience working alongside farming families.
Over many years as accountants, we saw firsthand what happens when succession is left too late or approached without clarity. Parents often didn’t know where or how to start. Conversations were delayed or avoided. Important decisions were left unresolved.
We saw the consequences:
- families under pressure making reactive decisions
- disputes emerging and relationships breaking down
- legal processes becoming drawn out and costly
- wills that were out of date, unclear, or no longer fit for purpose
- estates challenged where intentions weren’t understood or communicated
- significant opportunities lost, particularly around CGT and stamp duty concessions sometimes costing families millions in equity and tax outcomes
It wasn’t due to lack of care, it was a lack of understanding, structure, and guidance.
But we also saw what happens when succession is done well. The families that achieved strong outcomes were typically led by parents who stepped into the process early, building their understanding, creating clarity, and leading with intention.
That leadership made the difference. We believe farming families and particularly parents deserve the opportunity to develop that same level of knowledge, confidence, and leadership before making these decisions.
Future Farming Families was created to provide that pathway.
So families can preserve what they’ve built, protect what matters, and move forward with clarity and confidence, not uncertainty.
